The Marquette travel agency sees its activity increase as some European countries lift travel restrictions

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – After more than a year of travel restrictions, some overseas vacation destinations are reopening their doors to visitors.
According to Holiday Travel Vacations in Marquette, parts of Europe are now welcoming American travelers. However, only a few countries are available to book a getaway this season.
âRight now Croatia is open for us, Greece and Iceland,â said Laura Chapman, owner of Holiday Travel Vacations.
Even when visiting these countries, Chapman says travelers should be aware of some important requirements before they pack their bags.
âThey either need to be fully immunized and proof of that, or a negative COVID test before you arrive,â Chapman explained.
Additionally, she says all travelers must take a negative COVID-19 test 72 hours before returning to the United States.
Chapman says that with many countries requiring different health documents and each destination having its own restrictions, working with a travel agent can be the key to a successful vacation.
âTravel is very complicated during a pandemic,â she said. âYou can travel to Europe and connect to a European city on your flight that doesn’t allow people in, so there’s really a lot to know before you travel. We help you with everything you need, all regulations. “
Since European countries began lifting the bans, Chapman says Holiday Travel Vacations has seen an increase in business.
âThere has been a huge and pent-up need, especially for people like me and others who travel often,â she said. âWe haven’t been able to do it and we really want to come back to it.â
Chapman says this fall is a popular time for travelers to Marquette County who want to visit available European countries. She says reservations for next year are already filling up too.
âI am booking a lot of European river cruises for fall 2022,â Chapman said.
Holiday Travel Vacations is hoping that more of Europe will open up to American vacationers by June.
