April 16, 2021 – Another beautiful hotel on the Opatija Riviera is due to be built in the fall of this year, bringing even more luxury to this picturesque part of Croatia.

As Poslovni Dnevnik / Marija Crnjak writes, although there are still many challenges for this hotel project in Opatija Riviera, the construction of a brand new luxury hotel next to the Icici marina should start this year. This is an investment by Hungarian entrepreneur Lorinz Meszaros worth 50 million euros, which could bring a new global hotel brand to Kvarner.

Optimism despite the ongoing coronavirus crisis

Denis Sikljan, the owner of the DDG group, who developed the project on the grounds of a former hospital, which covers 20,000 square meters next to Marina Icici, confirmed that the main project has experienced delays due to the pandemic .

The new Opatija Riviera hotel will be a five-star establishment with 180 rooms and 12 villas, next to which a plaza for public use will be built, and the project includes the construction of an access road, a pedestrian bridge to the sea and a new rainwater drainage system from Ucka. Fountains, shops and a complete horticultural arrangement are planned in the public square, which will become the new center of Icici.

“We are very optimistic about all of this, although we still have a lot of work to do, precisely because a number of public institutions are involved in all of this, from the state to local government and public enterprises, and this involves a series of permits that must be obtained for implementation.

For now, everything is going as planned, albeit slower as the pandemic has slowed administrative processes and part of the ownership status of some land needs to be resolved. Once the work has started, and we expect it to start right after this summer season, everything should be completed within two calendar years.

It would have been earlier, but you have to take into account the ban on such works during the tourist season, which automatically takes away eight months of work, ” revealed Sikljan, who took over the Karlovacka banka project after the bankruptcy of Industrogradnja. , who originally bought it from KBC Rijeka. There was once a hospital for lung disease on earth, and it was left totally neglected for a long time.

The investor, Meszaros, is known to the public as the owner of NK Osijek, and he linked up with Sikljan, a well-known developer of luxury tourism projects in Kvarner, mainly on Krk, through sports.

The investor’s profile

The company implementing the project in Icici is Rivas Hotels & Resort, registered at the end of 2019 in Rijeka, and its founder is the company of the Talentis group, owned by the family of Lorinzo Meszaros.

The company has 30 hotels in its portfolio in Austria, Hungary, Romania and Montenegro, and plans to develop a strategy for its expansion in Croatia soon, with Icici as its first hotel project.

Meszaros is also the owner of the Mirno more company, which owns Vila Maria in Ceprljanda Bay in Ugljan, and reached the eyes of the media when five years ago a group of thugs shot at the windows of the house. where national team member Ivan Rakitic was staying with his family.

The Talentis Group underlines on its Linkedin profile that it is one of the most prestigious investors in Hungary, which is currently developing an innovative new city on 5,000 hectares, with more than 300 real estate projects in the western suburbs of the capital Budapest.

In recent years, they have completed projects with a total value of over 100 million euros, and in addition to hotel facilities, they have also developed a shopping center and logistics centers.
