Succession’s glamorous filming locations
After a long hiatus linked to the pandemic, the third series of the superlative Succession has finally arrived on our screens (from October 18). The Sky Atlantic satire follows the exploits of the incredibly wealthy and highly dysfunctional Roy family, who scramble for control of their father’s media empire. While much of the drama takes place in New York City, the show also ventures to Croatia, the Hamptons, and Tuscany to accurately portray the life and real estate empires of these centers.
Here, we take a tour of the globetrotting series’ most sparkling filming locations and take a look at where the characters will take to this season.
New York City
The Big Apple is the main stage for boardroom antics, with exterior shots of the headquarters of the family-owned Waystar Royco being filmed at 28 Liberty Street in the financial district of downtown Manhattan. The 60-story skyscraper has been a staple of the New York skyline since the 1960s and in real life is home to many banking companies, as well as the top-floor Manhatta Restaurant, which offers views of almost every centimeter of the island.
A memorable scene from the series’ very first episode sees the family take off from Pier 6 helipad on the East River in Lower Manhattan for a family softball game. Mere mortals can spot the helicopters carrying financial types from the East River Ferry bridge, which passes the pier towards Brooklyn.
