ZAGREB, January 9, 2022 – The Papuk Natural Park was visited by 64,290 people in 2021, an increase of 40% compared to 2020 and 18% compared to the record of 2019, announced the management of the park in beginning of the week.

“The year marked by the pandemic worldwide will be remembered as the most successful”, declared the director of the natural park, Alen Jurenac.

He said the Papuk Nature Park has grown from tourism potential to a must-see continental destination, adding that another successful outcome was the opening of the Geo Info Center in Voćin, which marked the end of the Geopark project of UNESCO.

The interactive multimedia Geo Info Center opened in Voćin in mid-December. It covers over 800 square meters and is designed as a place where you can travel through the past of planet Earth and as a starting point to introduce visitors to the features of Papuk Geopark and the nature protection system.

“Papuk Nature Park has been Slavonia’s most visited destination for quite some time now, so we feel responsible for upholding this status this year as well. Two modern educational centers, an adrenaline park, a campsite, kilometers of hiking and biking trails with 1,200 species of plants, or a quarter of the Croatian flora, guarantee an unforgettable experience for the whole family ”, declared Jurenac .
