Along the coast of Croatia are many small islands and peninsulas. Some are easily accessible, others are a little more difficult. Mljet is one of the most desirable islands to visit but not always the easiest.

Travelers wishing to reach Mljet have a few options, however. There may not be airports, trains or public transport to the island, but there are other ways to get there.

Hot to get to Mljet Island

With no airport, trains or buses to Mljet Island, reaching it can be a bit tricky. Travelers coming to visit the island should probably land in Dubrovnik or Split. From either of these two locations, travelers can take public transportation to reach Prapratno. For the next step, travelers will have to hop on a ferry for a short trip to the island.

Nearby airports

When flying for a visit to Mljet, travelers have a choice of several airports. Dubrovnik airport is about an hour and 15 minute drive from Peljesac. Peljesac is on a peninsula with a ferry port that offers a short ferry ride to Mljet

Split airport can also be used to reach Mljet from April to October. There are fast ferries that run to Mljet, giving travelers access to the island for half the year.

Getting to Mljet directly by Fast Ferry from Dubrovnik

Travelers arriving in Dubrovnik will have access to two fast ferries that run to Mljet. The 2:30 p.m. ferry from Catamaran Fast Ferry is an option, this option also operates all year round. Catamaran Fast Ferry also offers a 9:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. ferry that runs from April to October.
