Brijuni National Park to get electric tourist vehicles
The Director of the Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency, Siniša Kukić, and the Acting Director of the Public Institution of Brijuni National Park, Marno Milotić, on January 4 signed an agreement for the co-financing of electric tourist vehicles worth 1.9 million kuna.
As part of the project, the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund will co-finance 20 electric vehicles for Brijuni National Park for rental and 4 for guest transportation, for a total value of over 3 million kuna.
“Emobility is already a strategic objective for the European Union, especially in areas which are oases of biodiversity, such as national parks. We are happy that tourism in Brijuni is really considered in terms of sustainability and we will be happy to continue to be available for any quality ideas that will contribute to the objectives of environmental protection and energy efficiency ”, concluded the director of Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund.
Marno Milotić, acting director of the public institution of Brijuni National Park, confirmed that sustainability must be a priority in the management of national parks. “By purchasing new electric vehicles, the island’s tourist offer will be enriched, but also its specialties will be preserved. This was our goal with the implementation of the European Brijuni New Outfit project, where we also achieved excellent cooperation with the Fund, and this will continue to be our goal ”, concluded Milotić.
Long-term cooperation between Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund and Brijuni National Park has so far enabled the implementation of 18 projects worth over HRK 50 million.
With regard to the Green Plan and the climate and energy policy of the Republic of Croatia, it can be expected that all activities that contribute to sustainability and green infrastructure will continue to be encouraged, which will be accompanied by of the Fund’s new co-financing programs.
