Blanka Vlašić elected to the Athletes’ Commission of the European Olympic Committees
ZAGREB, Oct 3 (Hina) – Renowned Croatian athlete Blanka Vlašić was elected to the European Olympic Committees (EOC) Athletes ‘Commission for the next four years at the 6th European Athletes’ Assembly in Dubrovnik on Saturday.
Estonian athlete Gerd Kanter was re-elected chairman of the committee.
More than 70 athletes and representatives of National Olympic Committees attended the meeting, which was opened by the President of the Croatian Olympic Committee, Zlatko Mateša. The participants were also welcomed by the special advisor for sport to the Croatian Minister of Tourism and Sports Josip Pavić.
EOC President Spyros Capralos thanked “beautiful Dubrovnik” for hosting the event.
Also in attendance was the President of the Athletes’ Commission of the International Olympic Committee, Emma Terho.
Vlašić ended her career as one of the best Croatian athletes of all time in February 2021. During her career, she won two Olympic medals, one silver and one bronze, 17 Golden League titles , 14 Diamond League titles and 9 world and European medals. .
She has been named the World’s Best Track and Field Athlete, Two-Time Best European Athlete, World’s Best Athlete and Europe’s Best Athlete by the International Association of Sports Journalists on two occasions. She has also been named Croatia’s best athlete six times.
