A feast for the eyes: visit the world’s most beautiful beaches in a new coffee table book
Randall Kaplan’s photographs represent only 10% of the beaches he enjoyed and which he now shares through large, colorful prints.
Randall Kaplan, raised in Michigan and based in California, is causing a stir with a project that mixes fun, business and art.
With a long-standing love for beaches and a history of billion dollar business success, Kaplan started Sandee, a company providing beach tourism information around the world, and set up Happiness: beaches (Cameron), an aesthetic coffee table book featuring 121 aerial views of stunning waterfronts.
Kaplan’s photographs represent only 10% of the beaches he enjoyed and which he now shares through large, colorful prints. He predicts that readers will be visually enthralled and consider Sandee’s data-backed trips.
âOver the years a number of people have seen my photos and asked if they could buy any, and I thought there might be some value in publishing a book about it,â he said. said Kaplan, a camera enthusiast how to use drones, which he defines as cameras that fly.
âI bought my first drone six years ago because I thought the aerial shots were breathtakingly beautiful. I watched five hours of video learning how to fly a drone and learned more by flying it very precisely. I’ve gotten better and better at framing or centering something when I’m thousands of feet away.
Images of vast and alluring stretches of sand and surf – places often visited with families – stretch from Laguna Beach, near his California home, to the Dalmatian coast in Croatia.
The beach that turned the tide on his recreational interest was located along the coast of Fort Lauderdale in Florida, where he vacationed with close relatives as a teenager. The most recent popular beach was Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, where he traveled with two of his five teenage children.
Kaplan and his wife, Madison, model and clothing designer (Madtown Collection), celebrated their wedding in 2010 with a honeymoon at a Thai resort town overlooking the Andaman Sea.
âFrom a practical standpoint, I don’t have a favorite beach, but one of my favorites, Motu Roa, can be seen on the cover of the book,â Kaplan said. âTo get there, I rented a jet ski and drove 90 minutes from my hotel in Bora Bora. We were the only ones there, and there was soft white sand and warm, crystal clear turquoise water.
From a strictly practical point of view, Sandee has been developed to accommodate a wide range of beach goers by providing a database that lists beach information in 94 categories for some 50,000 beaches in over 200 countries.
âOne of our goals at Sandee is to provide beach visitors with the flexibility to choose their perfect beaches,â said Kaplan, who has made his mark as Mr. Beach. âWe are the only resource and company in the world with this information available for every beach in the world.
âThe needs of families and the needs of couples will almost always be different. Most families will want food, toilets, and showers, and they’ll also want to know if you can swim at this beach. A couple might want to know if there is surfing, snorkeling or volleyball on a beach.
Kaplan, 52, a psychology graduate from the University of Michigan (UM) and a graduate from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, has been the head of different types of businesses.
His resume includes Akamai Technologies, an IT initiative to make the Internet fast and secure; JUMP Investors, an entrepreneurial investment firm; Thrive Properties, a real estate development company; and CollarCard, a promotional products company.
The religious and community anchoring was done through activities at the Beth El Temple in Bloomfield Township and at the Wilshire Boulevard Temple in Los Angeles. Anchors in Michigan include the creation of the UM Julia Eder Dean Scholarship, which honors her grandmother, a “102 and a half” still in the Detroit metro area, and benefits students who have lived in foster homes. like she did.
âI love the idea of ââgoing to the beach,â said Kaplan, also diving into podcasts with âIn Search of Excellence,â which features earthy interviews from very successful people. âI love the sun, the outdoors, the sand on my feet, the sound of waves crashing on the ocean. I love to watch the diversity of people on the beach.
